All educational institutions are closed till 31th March.

The cabinet has decided to close all the educational institutions including schools, colleges and madrasas in the country from 17th March  to 31th March.

The decision was taken at a regular meeting of the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (16th March ).

Health Minister Zahid Malek said on Sunday (15th March) that the decision of whether the educational institution should be closed was only suggested by the Ministry of Education, the Health Ministry. Earlier, a writ petition has been issued seeking closure of all educational institutions in the country to protect against coronavirus. Writing lawyer Yunus Ali Akand has sought guidance on effective steps to keep the monitoring team in the identification of people with coronavirus at all airports, seaports and landmarks of the country. Justice Md. A high court bench comprising Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Mohiuddin Shamim may appear for hearing on the matter today.

Demand for closure of all educational institutions, including schools and colleges, has been made since the first coronary virus patient was identified in the country on 8th March. Later, the IEDCR informed that there is no coronary artery disease in Bangladesh. All three who were infected with coronavirus are now free of coronary disease. Later that night, Health Minister Jahed Malik said two more were injured in the country. One of the new victims came from Italy and another from Germany recently.

Government ministers and responsible people have been saying a number of things about the closure, non-termination of education programs due to coronavirus. But whatever it is, attendance at the educational institutions of the capital is declining. Students from various universities including Dhaka University, Bangladesh Agricultural University, BUET, Chuet have started classes. University teachers have also made statements demanding declaration of leave.

The Corona virus spread from Wuhan City, China, in December last year. Later spread all over the world. Coronavirus outbreaks worldwide have increased the number of infected and dead. The virus has so far infected around 1 lakh 69 thousand 552 people. 6 thousand 516 people died. Of the injured, 77 thousand 753 have returned home after treatment.

So far, the outbreak of coronas has spread in 157 countries and regions. In China alone, the number of people infected with the virus is 80,860, and there are 3,213 deaths.
