With the special request of the importers, all sorts of import and export activities have been started from Tuesday morning (24th March) through the Bhomra land port.
However, all kinds of import and export activities will be closed from Wednesday (25th March) until 31th March.
To prevent coronavirus, the state government of West Bengal has locked down all the municipal areas and five cities including the central government, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai. As a result, many truckloads of raw material have been trapped in the Ghoddanga immigration area.
Bhomra C&F Agent Association President M Arafat Hossain confirmed the matter. He said that though the Bhomra land port was scheduled to be closed from Tuesday (24th March) to 31th March, many of the raw material trucks were opened today due to special request from the importers.
Bhomra C&F Agent Association finance secretary ASM Maqsood Khan said the state government of West Bengal of India announced lockdown from Monday morning to 27th March in all municipal areas. At the same time, the West Bengal Transport Department has decided to halt the movement of freight cars as the central government has declared lockdown in six cities including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai. However, at the special request of the importers, all kinds of import and export activities are going on for one day.
Bhomra Immigration Checkpost's OC Biswajit Sarkar said that passport travelers who have entered two-country country today will be able to return to their respective countries today.
