Bangladesh Army has started field work from Wednesday morning (25th March) to tackle coronavirus spread worldwide. A joint team of police and army patrol the main roads of the port city.
According to the sources, four army teams are working in Chittagong with the district administration. Beyond that, a total of seventeen teams are now on the field to deal with coronavirus in three hill districts including Chittagong district. Chittagong District Administration Executive Magistrate Md. Touhidul Islam told Jago News, “A joint team of district administration, police and army are patrolling various areas of the city. Army personnel are sending him back home without any urgent need on the road. They are also assisting the administration with reviewing the home quarantine system. We (magistrates) with army members are going to the area of Quarantine. "
At the Chittagong Divisional Commissioner's office, the administration and the army met on Tuesday. The meeting also called for the deployment of army to assist the administration in handling the situation in Chittagong like in the country.
The military will work with the civil administration to address the current situation. Initially, they will oversee overseas refugees who do not adhere to the home quarantine. In addition to keeping their home in quarantine, the army will ensure that no more than 3-5 people are assembled and that people out of emergency need to walk a certain distance.
