Former freedom fighter Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu died while undergoing treatment (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). At the time of his death, he was 80 years old.
He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka on Thursday (2nd April). He returned to the country at the end of last January after receiving treatment at London and Bombay hospitals. At the time of his death, he left behind numerous qualities including his wife and son and grandchildren. His son, Ghalibur Rahman Sharif, confirmed the matter.
The linguistic and freedom fighter was born on 10th March in 1940 in the Muslim family at Matulala, in Char Shanikdia, Hemayetpur union of Sadar upazila. His father's name was late Lutfar Rahman. Her ancestral home was in Lakshunda union of Ishwardi upazila. He was the mezzo son of the family.
Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu attended Pabna District School as a student at Lakshikunda Union of Ishwardi in Primary School and Pakuria Millad English School. He passed Matriculation in the 1957 from Pabna District School. He completed his Intermediate in 1960 and Graduation in 1962.
Pabna district Awami League president Shamsur Rahman Sharif was elected a member of parliament for the fifth consecutive time in the Jatiya Sangsad elections of 1996, 2001, 2008, 2014 and the last 2018. After winning the 10th parliamentary election, on 12th January, 2014, the government of Bangladesh served as the Minister of Land Ministry.
The news of the death of this year's leader has spread to the whole district of Pabna.
