Police have arrested four persons in connection with the clash between Awami League and Chhatra League over the demand for donations in Barisal's Gouranadi upazila. The officer-in-charge of the police station Golam Sarwar said this morning.
Yesterday afternoon there was a clash between the two parties. Barisal's Additional Superintendent of Police (Gournadi Circle) Abdur Rob Howlader said seven policemen were injured as they tried to control the situation. One has been admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Awami League activist Rasheduzzaman told local reporters, "I have started buying 45 decimals of land next to the T&T office and started filling the sand." Chhatra League leader Sumon Mahmud demanded a donation to me on a mobile phone at around 3pm yesterday. In the afternoon, Suman forced me to enter my rented house by forcing 10 to 12 BCL staff and beat me. When my wife and children tried to stop them, they were attacked. '
Denying the allegations of extortion, Suman said, “Supporters of Chhatra League president Jubair Islam alias Santu Bhuiyan attacked my three followers yesterday afternoon in the wake of previous hostility. They then attacked my home and injured me and my mother. Then my supporters clashed with Santu's supporters. '
Santu Bhuiyan said, "I have heard that Sumon Mahmud attacked Rashiduzzaman, an Awami League activist demanding money. Everything that has happened has been in protest. ”
