Police rescued the escaped young girl from her father-in-law's house in a Dhaka hospital after suffering from coronavirus. He was admitted to the Isolation Unit of Sadar Hospital. The local administration has locked down two neighboring villages in the incident.
The girl was rescued from her father-in-law's residence at Bactarpur village of Dadashi union of Rajbari Sadar upazila on Wednesday (8th April). Earlier on Tuesday, police surrounded the house at around 8:30 pm. Later, the lockdown of the village of Bactarpur and adjoining Samshpur village was made.
Acting Officer (OC) of Rajbari Sadar Police Station Swapan Kumar Majumder said, "The couple went to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital for medical treatment a few days ago. From there, he was referred to Suhrawardy Hospital, Dhaka. There, he was diagnosed with coronavirus. However, she escaped from the hospital with her husband on Tuesday afternoon. Police surrounded the house from the night of the incident.
OC Swapan said the district civil surgeon and Sadar Upazila executive officer (UNO) went to the house later. From there, the girl and her husband were rescued and admitted to the Isolation Center at Sadar Hospital.
District Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Nurul Islam said the woman would be treated at the Sadar Hospital for a while. Samples will also be collected from her husband's body and examined. They will be sent to Dhaka if they feel their condition has deteriorated.
Rajbari Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sayeduzzaman Khan said the lockdown has been announced at Bikharpur and adjoining village. The Chairman of the Dadashi Union has been asked to set up a volunteer team and launch a hotline number. Volunteer team members will be able to reach out to anyone in the two villages in lockdown if they need food or any kind of assistance.
