Narayanganj, now known as the 'Hotspot' (High Risk), has now become the epicenter for the spread of coronavirus infection in the country. Apart from increasing the number of people infected in Narayanganj, there is evidence of spread of infection in different districts of the country. In the past few days, infected persons have been identified in at least six districts, who have recently been from Narayanganj.
Narayanganj is famous for its industries and businesses. The entire district lockdown was blocked last Wednesday to prevent the spread of infection from Narayanganj, but it was not fully implemented. Within the lockdown, hundreds of people spread from Narayanganj to various parts of the country. Many of them have been identified as suffering from coronas in different districts.
Health department and local sources said that the first person identified as Tangail was employed at a clinic in Narayanganj. The two identified in Narsingdi used to work in Narayanganj. A man was arrested in Sitakunda, Chittagong on Wednesday. The man was a security guard at a bank in Narayanganj. He became ill and left for Sitakunda on 6th April. The following day, a person was diagnosed with infection at Saidpur in Nilphamari. He was an employee of a farming restaurant in Narayanganj. He went to Syedpur on 6thApril.
Yesterday, a young man, who is a worker of a garment factory in Narayanganj, was found dead at Chandpur village. On 5th April she went to Chandpur's father-in-law. Last Thursday, a person with coronas died at Dumki in Patuakhali. He also worked in a garment factory in Narayanganj. He visited Patuakhali last Sunday.
Mirzadi Sabrina, director of the IEDCR, also said many of the people affected in different districts are from Narayanganj.
Until yesterday, the most affected areas outside the capital Dhaka were identified in Narayanganj district. About 18.68 percent of the total infected patients in the country are residents here. Till 7th April, the number of patients identified in Narayanganj was 11. On 7th April it stood at 38. On 8th April that number stood at 46. On 9th April, there were 59 people. The last time it went was 75 people.
Of the 27 people who died of coronary heart disease in the country till yesterday, nine were from Narayanganj. In Narayanganj, 38 percent of the people who died of coronavirus.
Coronation prevalence is high in Narayanganj city area and Sadar upazila. City police stations, Pond Para, Nandipara, Deoghog Akhara and Kashipur Ambagan and Purbalampara of Sadar Upazila; Rasulbag of Bandar Upazila; Golakandail, Woolita and Noapara of Rupganj Upazila; The victim has been identified in the Bhandi Union of Araihazar Upazila.
On 8th March, the government announced the diagnosis of the first infection in the country, the Institute of Pathology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR). On that day, three foreigners were identified, including two foreigners. Two of them were from Narayanganj. Since then the number of victims has increased, which still continues. While presenting the latest updated information about the coronavirus yesterday, the director of the IEDCR said, "Narayanganj is an epicenter for us."
Conflict with other clusters
Narayanganj is one of the five clusters of transmission (many patients within short distance of one place) identified by IEDCR in Bangladesh. Out of the remaining four clusters, 9 patients have died in Basabo in the capital till 5th April,61 in Tolarbagh, 11 in Madaripur and 5 in Gaibandha.

Locked-in vacant districts
Narayanganj is connected with various districts on the roads and waterways. The entire Narayanganj district was locked down last Wednesday. But still hundreds of people returned to their respective villages in different districts by riding trucks, trailers, buses, ambulances and microbes.
Last Thursday, 18 people went to Nesarabad in Pirojpur by boat from Narayanganj. The villagers prevented them from entering. Police later attacked the villagers as they prepared to put them in a quarantine school.
On Wednesday night, 92 workers went from Narayanganj and Munshiganj to Gaibandha by two boats. On receiving the news, the local administration put them in the institutional quarantine.
During the last four to five days, several hundred people went to Chandpur on a secret route from Narayanganj. Six of them have been identified and taken to the quarantine. Simultaneously, Chandpur district lockdown has been announced. Besides, many have been reported from Narayanganj to Gopalganj, Barisal and Moulvibazar.
The question arises as to how the lockdown spread to so many districts. Narayanganj district civil surgeon Mohammad Imtiaz said they were not satisfied with the lockdown. The lockdown percentage at any price needs to be confirmed. If people leave here, there is a possibility of spreading corona across the country.
Even within Narayanganj, social distance cannot be ensured in the market, the mahalla. The movement of people has been seen in the raw markets and wholesale markets of different areas. However, transport of vehicles and people is less on the road. The guard of the law enforcers was seen at the entrance of Narayanganj district and various places of the city since yesterday morning.
Narayanganj District Police Superintendent Zaidul Alam told the first light that some people were left blank before and after the lockdown. Now more tightening has been done. He also said that Narayanganj is a big business center, there are two fuel oil depots here. Because of this the lockdown percentage cannot be executed. In addition, more than 1 million workers of the garment factory could not go home. They are coming out for various reasons. Due to this, there is no complete lockdown in the neighborhood.
