5 died in separate road accidents
Two people were killed in a two-truck collision in Baluka upazila of Mymensingh. One more was injured. The accident took place at Varadoba bus stand on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway of Bharadoba Union at around midnight on Wednesday (19th February).
Varadoba Highway Police TSI. Rafiqul Islam said that when a chicken pickup van reached the Uttara area of the Varadoba bus stand, Balubojhai was pushed into the back of a truck. The casualties were reported. The bodies of the victims were recovered and sent to the morgue of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The injured are being treated at the hospital.
Meanwhile, a school teacher named Chalma Begum (45) was killed when she was hit by a truck in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj. The accident took place on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in the Majra area of Kasiani Upazila on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Chamma Begum, wife of Dulu Sheikh of the lower Majra village of Kashiani upazila. She is an educator at Al Hera Kinder Garden in Danga Majra village of the same upazila.
An angry mob blocked the Dhaka-Khulna highway for an hour. As a result, numerous vehicles were trapped on both sides of the highway. Kasiani police officer in-charge (OC) Azizur Rahman confirmed the information to the media.
