A dragon snake has been caught by locals in search of food in Hathazari municipality of Chittagong.
On Sunday morning, about 10 foot tall and weighing about 12kg was captured by some local youths in Azimpara area of Dewan Nagar village of Hathazari municipality.
Villagers can see the dragon snake eating a kachu behind Azimpara Government Primary School in Dewan Nagar village of ward no. 3 of the municipality. Later, some young men of the village caught the snake in tact and set out to kill it.
Local resident said. On receiving information from a man named Liton, officials of the Chitagam North Forest Department's 11-mile Bitkam check station at Hathazari Range quickly rushed to the spot and took the snake into their custody. The dragon snake was then released in the forest area west of the area, said Forrester Soumen Barua, officer of the station.
He said that indiscriminate hills, deforestation and deforestation have caused the animals to remain inappropriate and extreme food crisis. So wildlife is rushing to the shelter for food and shelter.
