On the last day of filing nomination papers for the Chittagong City Corporation elections, the nomination papers were submitted to the returning officer, 9 mayors, 220 general ward councilors and 58 reserved women councilors.

Chittagong Regional Election Officer and Returning Officer Muhammad Hasanuzzaman confirmed the matter.

Bangladesh Awami League has filed nomination for mayor. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, BNP said. Shahadat Hossain, Solaiman Alam Seth of the Jatiya Party, Maulana MA Matin of the Islamic Front and the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh. Jannatul Islam, NPP's Abul Manzoor, Muhammad Wahed Murad of Islamic Front Bangladesh, Khokon Chowdhury and Md. Tanzi Abedin.

Chittagong Regional Election Officer and Returning Officer Muhammad Hasanuzzaman Desh said the candidates had collected nomination papers from different booths to participate in the Chassic elections as per the Election Commission's announcement. On the last day of filing nomination papers, all the nominees submitted 9 nominations for the post of mayor and 278 for general and reserved ward councilors. Earlier, 11 nominations for the post of mayor and 441 for general councilor, 79 for reserved councilor were collected.

On 16th  February, the Election Commission announced the schedule for Chasseq elections. According to the announcement, the last date for submitting nomination papers for the elections is 27th February, nomination papers will be checked on 1st March , the last date for withdrawal of nomination is 8th March  and election symbol will be allotted on 9th March.

It further said that after scrutinizing the nomination papers, an appeal can be made between 2nd March  and 4 and the decision on appeal will be made between March 5 and 7. Finally, elections will be held on 29th March.
