Rezaul, Dr Shahadat and Solaiman nominated as Mayor in Chittagong City Corporation election.

Awami League's Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, BNP's Dr Shahadat Hossain and Jatiya Party's Solaiman Alam Seth collected nominations from the Chittagong Regional Election Officer's office in the Chittagong City Corporation election. Meanwhile, 96 candidates have been nominated from the Election Commission for the post of general ward councilor and reserved councilor.

On 20th February , a total of 96 candidates nominees  including 3 candidates for the mayor's office, 78 candidates for the councilor's office and 15 candidates  for the reserved women councilor's office have been nominated, the regional election official said. Smile Bangladesh Awami League nominee Rezaul Karim Chowdhury as mayor, from the Jatiya Party. Solaiman Alam Seth, Shahadat Hossain from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Earlier, on 19th February, Mujibur Rahman as an independent candidate and Md. Of the Islamic Movement Bangladesh. Jannatul Islam has collected nomination papers from the Election Commission for the post of Mayor.

Besides, the reserved councilors - Ferdous Begum Munni in ward no. 8, Sirajun Nur Begum and Mobashera Begum in ward 12, Nahida Yasmin in ward 4, Sakina Begum and Ismat Ara Zerin, No 4 and Rum Cheema and Noem Ward. Nashima Haque Siddika in ward 4, Jasmina Khanam in ward 4, Kamrunnahar Lisa in ward 4, Farhan in ward 12. Afroza Zahoor Haq (Afroja Kalam) has collected nomination papers to the Election Commission.

Consequently, this year's chassis elections will be held on 29th March. According to the schedule, the deadline for filing nominations is Thursday (27th February). The last date for scrutiny of nominations is 1st March. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 8th March . Besides, the symbol will be allotted to the candidates on 9th March. This year's election will be held on electronic voting machines (EVMs).
