Coronavirus: CMP hotline turned on to stop rumors

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has launched a hotline to prevent coronavirus rumors and warehousing of goods.

In this hot line, information can also be given about whether people from overseas are socializing with non-home quarantine.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Public Relations) of the city, Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, said the hotline number 1400 400400 would be open for 24 hours and a police officer would collect information over the phone.

He also said, "If anyone intentionally rumors or propaganda about the coronavirus and reserve the necessary commodities like rice, pulses, oil, sugar, etc., then the hotline number can be charged.

He also requested to inform them about the hotline number if any person returning abroad did not visit the home quarantine.

In the past few days, the mobile court of the district administration has imposed a fine of about 3 lakh on 12 people who returned home in the past few days but were not allowed to stay in the home quarantine from the district civil surgeon's office.

On the other hand, law enforcement agencies have arrested three people, including one involved in Jubo Dal politics, for spreading rumors about coronavirus.
